An unusual blend of swimming and winter sports came to be at stage number four of the EA7 Emporio Armani Sportour, held in Valle Anterselva and Valdaora. Over the weekend in Alto Adige, the winter sports event, organised by RCS Sports & Events together with La Gazzetta dello Sport and Radio 105, featured special guest Gabriele Detti, an extraordinary Italian swimming champion and the spokesperson for EA7 Emporio Armani.
The champion from Livorno joined in the snowshoe walk across the frozen lake of Anterselva, and participated in the biathlon at the same grand stadium that recently hosted the World Cup for the discipline, one of the best loved sports events not just in this tourist area but throughout the whole of Alto Adige. The same location will host the World Championships in 2020.
Besides the snowshoe walk and the biathlon, a Nordic skiing event that includes rifle shooting and cross-country skiing, the programme also featured: ski style preskige, a training session for perfecting skiing techniques with a performance evaluation; snowbike, the new frontier for cycling enthusiasts eager to pedal on ice and snow using fat bikes, and giro di pista, a giant descent with 21 gates inspired by the stages of the 2019 Giro d’Italia. In fact, Valle Anterselva and Valdaora will be featured at the beginning and end of the corsa rosa (pink race).
EA7 Emporio Armani provided a selection of jackets to be tested on the slopes. Skiers were able to appreciate the style and technology of the garments from the 2018/19 autumn winter collection.
As always, promotional activities and entertainment were provided by the staff of Radio 105, the radio partner for the whole tour, who were present both at the Village in Anterselva and at high altitude in Plan de Corones with a station located at the point of arrival. DJs Bryan Ronzani and Valeria Oliveri were friendly as ever as they energised the three days of snow, hosting champion Gabriele Detti at their station, along with four young international snowboarding and freestyle skiing champions: Fabian Bosch, Emil Granbom, Grant Giller and Italian champion Simon Gruber. On Saturday, the four riders – who were competing in Valdaora that same weekend as part of the two days of freestyle skiing and snowboarding for the international Big Air festival, “Freestyle Kronplatz Air” – greeted those participating in the Sportour from the microphones of Radio 105 opening the afternoon aperitif for the Après Ski, provided by Cantine Ferrari.
Ski tests with Völkl quality material were also conducted at Valdaora Plan de Corones.
