For stage number four, the 2019 EA7 Emporio Armani Sportour returns to Alto Adige. From 14 to 17 February Valle Anterselva (Antholzertal in German) and Valdaora will, in fact, host the next leg of the winter sports event organised by RCS Sports & Events in collaboration with La Gazzetta dello Sport and Radio 105, the official radio for the tour.
A stage that promises to be special with the participation of an exceptional athlete, swimming champion Gabriele Detti. Just 24 years old, the young man from Livorno already boasts an extraordinary string of victories with two bronze medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics (400 m and 1500 m freestyle) and a gold medal at the 2017 Budapest World Championship for the 800 m freestyle. An outstanding champion and spokesperson for EA7 Emporio Armani, Detti will be the star guest, this time on the splendid snow of Alto Adige.
“Being the spokesperson for EA7 Emporio Armani, one of the most important sportswear brands in the world, fills me with pride. This opportunity also provides excellent visibility for all the athletes who, like me, have participated in the EA7 campaign, helping to highlight our disciplines. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s actually an extraordinary result in a Country where football dominates the scene. I can’t wait to participate in this stage of the EA7 Sportour Winter Edition. It will be a completely new experience for me, especially given the fact that the focus is on winter sports, which I love though, unfortunately, I can only participate as a spectator, since I broke my tibia and fibula as a child. I haven’t been able to wear ski boots since. I love snowboarding, it’s spectacular, and I like the biathlon. And you can be sure that I won’t miss out on the Snow-biking at Anterselva – Valdaora!” stated Gabriele Detti.
The new stage will begin Saturday at 8:30 am and will continue through to 4:00 pm Sunday with a packed schedule. The Village, the central hub for the event as well as the place to book activities and obtain information, will be located in Plan de Corones Valdaora and will be open starting Friday afternoon. The station in Anterselva (near the Biathlon Stadium) will open on Saturday.
The dominant feature of this stage will be the biathlon, scheduled for Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. A Nordic skiing event, the biathlon includes rifle shooting and cross-country skiing. The biathlon World Cup was hosted in Anterselva in late January and is one of the most popular sports event not just in the Plan de Corones tourist area but in the whole of Alto Adige. (The same location will host the World Championships in 2020).
Other activities on the programme include ski style preskige, a training session for perfecting skiing technique – execution and style – with assessment of expertise on skis; snowshoe walk; snowbike, the new frontier for cycling enthusiasts who are eager to pedal on the snow using fat bikes; giro di pista a giant descent with 21 gates, all inspired by the stages of the upcoming 2019 Giro d’Italia. Both Anterselva and Valdaora will serve as stages, arrival and departure, respectively, in the Corsa Rosa (Pink Race), on 29 and 30 May.
EA7 Emporio Armani will provide a selection of jackets for testing on the slopes, giving skiers a chance to appreciate the style and technology offered by the 2018/19 autumn and winter collection.
Radio 105 – the radio partner for the whole tour – will be present both at the Village and at high altitude, with a music area located at the point of arrival. At every stage, the staff of the radio station will engage those present with various entertaining and promotional activities: Bryan Ronzani and Valeria Oliveri will accompany the day’s events.
Participants will have a chance to conduct a ski test with quality material provided by Völkl.
Following Valle Anterselva – Valdaora, the EA7 Emporio Armani Sportour will continue with Sestriere (22-24 February) and will end in Courmayeur (1-3 March). The itinerant event kicked off this past 18 January in Bormio, followed by Corvara (2nd stage) and Ponte di Legno (3rd stage).
