Bormio will replace Courmayeur as the first stop for the new EA7 Emporio Armani Sportour Winter Edition. The itinerant sports event organised by RCS Sport in some of Italy’s most beautiful mountain settings, with the collaboration of La Gazzetta dello Sport and Radio 105, will therefore start in Valtellina over the 18-20 January weekend. Bormio, located in the heart of Stelvio National Park, hosts the Ski World Cup each year and recently witnessed the undertakings of Italy’s own Paris and Innerhofer.
THE EVENTS SCHEDULE
This first winter edition of the EA7 Sportour includes six events, scheduled from January to March. After Bormio, the tour will continue with Corvara (25 – 27 January), Ponte di Legno (8 – 10 February), Rasun Anterselva near Bolzano, which will also include the municipality of Valdaora (15 – 17 February), Sestriere (22 – 24 February), and will end with the finale in Courmayeur (1-3 March).
THE SCHEDULE FOR BORMIO
Friday, 18 January, starting at 3.30 pm the Sportour Village, the hub for the entire event, will be inaugurated at the Park Funivia Bormio Ski. Radio 105 will be present both in the Village and with a station at Bormio 2000, at the point of arrival. The staff of the radio station will engage those present with various entertaining and promotional activities: Bryan Ronzani and Valeria Oliveri will accompany the day’s events, including the après-ski DJ set, which will liven up the Village in the afternoon.
The activities planned include: we glow, the group descent on the ski slopes at night; ski style preskige, the training session for perfecting skiing technique – execution and style – with assessment of expertise on skis. And more: skiathlon, a combination of alpine skiing, downhill and biathlon target shooting; ciaspolate; snowbike, the new frontier for enthusiasts who love cycling on ice and snow, with a chance to try out the fat bikes; giro di pista, an unconventional giant descent with 21 gates, all inspired by the stages of the upcoming Giro d’Italia.
The official website ea7sportour can be used to book all activities in advance and for signing up. The website will also provide complete information and the programme for all the stops in the tour.
